PROCESS
At the heart of our work is a commitment to keeping things real. Guided by light, form, and movement, each project is an exploration of the power of the moving picture. We utilize modern cinema and photographic tools to capture the subjects that inspire us. Explore behind the scenes to see the process that shapes our work.

We’ve had this stunning location on our radar for years. Here, bacteria feed on decaying plants and animals that settle along the lake bottom, releasing methane gas in the form of thousands of bubbles. Rising to the water’s surface, these bubbles become trapped in frozen, suspended stacks. We were fortunate that conditions were calm enough for us to use some of our custom camera rigs, allowing us to move the camera across large distances with precise control. It’s incredible what nature can manifest.
This reservoir flooded the traditional lands of the Îyârhe Nakoda First Nation and the Smallboy Mountain Cree, displacing them to higher ground and erasing a piece of their history.

Bad weather makes for good images, as they say. For several years, we’ve been returning to a favourite location in southern Saskatchewan: Cypress Hills. On a recent trip, we were fortunate to be prepared for a massive winter storm with wind speeds exceeding 100 km/h and temperatures dropping to -30°C. Keeping the camera steady was our biggest challenge—oh, and not freezing to death, of course. From this trip, we managed to create three final pieces for the Collection.
